Story:Hiss...Want some money?

Story :  Hiss…Want some money?
Once there was a boy, Madhav. His father was a farmer but he wanted to do business as an occupation. He found the cores of the farming boring. His father wanted him to join the family in the farming and follow the suit. He wanted money to start the business and father was reluctant to provide any money. So Madhav used to spend his days by roaming here and there. One day his father scolded him hard.
He said, “If you will not come to the farm you will not get the bread.” This humiliated him a lot. He felt ashamed in front of the whole family. That day he went to the farm with his father and brothers but he could not concentrate on work. He started digging the earth near the trees. Self pity made him cry. He spent the whole day lamenting on his fate. In the evening when he was returning back from the farm, he realized that someone was following him. He turned back but there was no one. Then he started walking again. This time he heard a sound “hiss….hiss…”. He looked down and saw a long golden snake. He was about to run out of fear but the snake hissed again and asked, “Want some money?” Madhav was shocked but he was too desperate to deny the offer. He nodded and said, “Yes.”
The snake said , “Follow me.” It crossed all the farms of the village and entered the forest. It became dense and dangerous as they went far and far.  Madhav kept following the snake. At last they came near a water fall.  The snake led him behind the water fall into a huge cave. There were murals of snakes and humans on the walls of the cave. It was a full moon night so the cave was illuminated by the Moonlight.  Some down stairs were there. When the snake stepped on the first stair it turned into a beautiful woman with golden tan. Madhav looked at her amazed.
When he moved forward to follow her she said, “Stop. Think twice before following me. From these stairs either you can come back with great wealth or you will die crushing between these stairs. One more thing, today is full moon night you have to find two more persons eligible as successor of millions of gold coins till another full moon night to get your wealth. But if they turned out fake you will not only loose the wealth but also your dear life.”
Madhav said, “I am confused. What are you saying?”
Snake said, “I am Sona, to make you understand the whole concept, I will tell you a story of three men.
The first man was a merchant. His name was Vishnudutta. He used to go faraway places in huge ships to sell the goods of his country. While returning from those places he brought with him unique things of those places. This made him a very wealthy man. He loved his work, travelling new places, meeting different people, learning about their culture. When he became old he asked his sons to do the same. But they refused. They said, “We have enough money for our seven generations to survive. Why should we move from place to place away from our family and friends and waste our life?” This was a nightmare for Vishnudutta. He tried his best to convince his sons to pursue his occupation as a source of living but it was all in vein. So one night he put all his wealth in the carts and moved towards the forest. He moved in the deep and dense forest and came to this water fall.
The second man was a Zamindar. His name was Somsen. Unlike the conventional Zamindars he believed in socialism. He owned a huge land. By the grace of God his farms yielded excellent crops every year. He spent a large amount of his income in the welfare of the village. Construction of inns, roads, schools etc. were his areas of interest. But one day, his wife came to him and said, “Enough is enough. Me and my kids are not going to let you spend the entire wealth on these villagers.”   Zamindar Somsen said, “I shut out, you shut out who will carry water out ? Someone has to put the shoulder to the wheel of progress of the villagers.” But his wife did not share his ideology. Their arguments turned into fights and their relation became bitter and bitter day by day. One night, Zamindar thought that there was no one to succeed his wealth. He put all his wealth in carts and went to the forest. He also reached at the same waterfall.
The third man was  Seth Kishorilal, a very reputed citizen of the state. All the pleasures and joys of this earth were present at his house. He was blessed with a very handsome and intelligent son. His son was his proud. He considered himself as the luckiest person on this earth. His son was an obedient boy, he had a lots of money and very good status in the society. One day his son went to forest with his friends. There he met a girl who belonged to Bheel tribe ( a tribe that lives in forest) and fell in love with her. When Kishorilal came to know about his affair, he became furious. He wanted his son to get married to the daughter of some royal. He tried his hard to pursue his son to back out of that affair but the son was too determined to be persuaded. At last he said, “If you will marry the girl of your choice, you will not inherit my property and wealth.” The boy said, “I don’t need your money and I can earn this much and of course more, than this myself.” He left his father’s home and went to the girl. But when the Bheels came to know that his father is against this alliance. They killed them both because they did not want to mess up with Seth Kishorilal. When he came to know about his son’s death he broke down. He felt that his shallow pride was the only reason of his son’s sudden demise. Now he had nothing to be happy about. No successor for his huge wealth. One night he put all his wealth in carts and went to the forest. He also reached at the same waterfall.
That night was same in all the three stories. The three of them met and became friends as they had the same motive that is to find a successor. But they were too tired and depressed to find one.  So they called king of snakes. He was the friend of Seth Kishorilal.
They said, “Please guard our wealth and find a suitable successor for all three of us.” He agreed and called his three daughters --- Sona (that’s me), Rupa (silver) and Pragya (wisdom), my sisters to guard the wealth and find its suitable successors.
You can be the successor of the merchant and get his immense wealth, provided you can find the successors of the Zamindar Somsen and  Kishorilal , till the next full moon night. If any of you turn out to be fake, all of you will die .”
When Madhav came out of the cave it was dawn. He considered it a good omen and went in search of the other two successors. He travelled a long way and came to a village where some people were digging a huge pond. Madhav asked, “What are you doing?” They replied, “We are Zamindar’s labors. We are constructing a huge tank for rainwater harvesting.” Madhav decided to meet the Zamindar so he went to his house. On his way he saw that Zamindar had     done a lot of work for the welfare of  the villagers like construction  of wells, schools, inns etc.
He asked Zamindar, “You have done a lot for villagers but most of the things are kuccha (temporary).”
Zamindar replied, “I want to do a lot but financial crunch hinders my efforts.”
Madhav said, “I can help you to get a lot of money.”
Madhav narrated him the whole story of the snake.
Zamindar said, “Your story is too unbelievable to be true. But it is too tempting to be ignored.”
They both smiled and started their journey in search of the successor of  Kishorilal. They travelled a maze of villages for almost a fortnight and came on the bank of a river. It was dusk and the sun was about to rise. There was only a single boat so they went to it to cross the river. But they were astonished to see that the Navik (sailor) was weeping. They asked, “Why are you weeping?”
He said, “It’s a long story. I use to live happily taking passengers across the banks but one morning, the same as this one, when I was waiting for passengers, the princess of the kingdom came to the bank. It took some time for her men to bring her royal boat so she boarded my boat. I have never seen such a beautiful princess. Her beauty was just like morning sunshine. I sang in praise of her beauty. When we reached the bank we both fell in love for each other. But when the king came to know about this he decided to kill me. It was only my princess’s efforts and emotional pressure on the King that I am still alive. But there is no friend for King’s enemy. No one wants to sit in my boat. Soon I will die of hunger. Without my love. Without my dreams.”
His tragic story brought immense satisfaction to Madhav and Zamindar. They told Navik that they could help him to get a huge wealth and his love. Navik became very happy and joined them in their journey. When they reached the cave, it was full moon night. Sona was not there in the cave. They decided to go downstairs and stepped the first ladder. Suddenly, Sona appeared from the murals on the wall of the cave. She said, “All of you ready to take the test. If any of you fail, all the three of you will lose your life.”
They all said, “We are ready for your test.”
Sona said, “These are golden stairs soon they will end and silver stairs will begin. There you will meet my sister, Rupa. She will ask you a question. If she gets satisfied she will let you move ahead otherwise you will meet your end.”
As they stepped down the golden stairs were replaced by the silver one. There stood an extremely beautiful maiden in silver clothes, silver ornaments and  cascading  silver hair. She smiled and said, “Hello, I am Rupa. First answer my question then you may move ahead.”
They said, “Ask your question. We all are ready.”
She asked, “How much money a person shall have?”
Madhav replied, “A person shall have enough money to buy the goods and sell them further to make more money out of it.”
Zamindar replied, “A person shall have enough money to make the standard of living of the whole society equal and good.”
Navik replied, “Money shall never become a barrier in love. A lover shall have enough  money to marry his sweet heart.”
“You passed my test. Now my sister Pragya will decide about your fate.” She said and let them move ahead.
The silver stairs were replaced by transparent one. There stood a beautiful maiden of transparent silhouette.
She said, “I am Pragya. These stairs will lead you to three doors. We three sisters are the key of those doors. Each of you has to choose one of us and give reason for his choice.
Madhav said, “I choose you because wisdom is the most important credential for a business.”
Zamindar said, “I choose Rupa because silver is money and all my dreams of welfare of the villagers can only be true  if I have money.”
Navik said, “I choose Sona because its serene beauty resembles my sweetheart.”
“Its surprising that none of you choose the same key but it is incredible that all of you are correct.” Pragya smiled and said.
She then handed over three keys with snake motifs to them. All the three opened the doors and took the carts of the wealth out of the cave near waterfall. They bid farewell to each other and went their ways. The three snakes smiled and went to their home. Far in the sky three stars smiled because they got their successors.

Travel : A Pleasure trip

Travel : A Pleasure Trip
Three consecutive holidays on a weekend seemed a perfect timing for a long awaited break. A whirlwind tour to Ghana Bird Sanctuary, Fatehpur Sikri and Taj Mahal was planned. With my hubby behind the steering wheel, me and my two naughty kids [Yasho 9yrs and Udayan  3yrs] started the journey-get set go…. It was a cool morning with rainy clouds all over the sky. The greenery of Jaipur was singing in the tune of F.M. radio of the car.  The cool breeze was playing symphony with the beautiful scenery. The black clouds were playing hide and seek with  the mountains. Many unfamiliar names of the places came and went by on the yellow stones. I could have sung serenades for the nature’s beauty along the road but the three hours journey flew away too quickly and we reached Ghana eating, drinking and singing. When we were getting out of the car Udayan asked for his umbrella. The watchman of the parking lot told him that there is no need of any umbrella as so many clouds are there but I turned a blind eye on his advice and unlocked the car and gave the umbrella to Udayan. All of us were very happy on reaching our first destination so quickly and without any panic.  When hubby dear went at the ticked counter, I got an idea to click some pictures of the kids playing at the beautiful entrance gate of Ghana Bird  Sanctuary .  It was then I realized that the battery of the camera is low. But I was determined not to spoil my mood for a wonderful holiday.  Hubby and kid’s allegations soon vanished when we took a tonga along with a guide. The guide had a pair of binoculars and both my materialistic kids were more interested in the binoculars than the birds. Each time the guide spotted any bird and offered the binoculars there was a   sound of me..me..me.. When my turn came I could not see anything except long grass. But soon we learnt to take the binoculars by turn and see the birds without much fuss and noise. After an hour  we had enhanced our knowledge about the 300 species of grass found there, Siberian Cranes, Jungle Kotwal who alerts the other birds  of the attacks by the hawks, about a bird who weeds out pieces of meat struck in a tiger’s teeth, birds that can hover like a helicopter and birds who live on eggs and chicks of other birds. The most fascinating site was of the butterflies--- yellow and white sitting on the road and flying abruptly at the noise of the tonga. Kids clapped with excitement at the site of a turtle in the nearby pond. Suddenly, I realized that Udayan’s umbrella is missing. O God! where it had gone. From then onwards my focus shifted from the birds to the little blue umbrella. On our way back I concentrated on the sides of the road but there was no umbrella. Inspite of the constant assurance by the guide and the tonga-wala we could not find the umbrella. We continued our journey towards Fatehpur Sikri without umbrella. At Fatehpur Sikri, there was a huge crowd of guides with price tag ranging from Rs.20 to Rs.350. It was only my husband’s skilled navigation that led us across. We parked our car and boarded a CNG bus to reach the palace and the Dargah. Then we hired a guide. He also had an umbrella hung at the back in his collar. My naughty mind suggested that it’s a good idea to avoid losing your umbrella. Our guide was an eloquent speaker he told us that first we would visit the palace and then the Dargah. The palace was beautifully built building with red sand stone. The spell of the guide’s words took us in Akbar’s reign. He had three queens with three different religions. Their hide and seek palace was a beautiful example of Jain architecture. His Aam Darbar with seats of his Navratanas, the stage for Tansen, the beautiful gardens and the game of  Chopad – Pasa embedded on the tiles of floor. All were magnificent. Then we went towards the Dargah. There was Buland Darwaza. It was really huge. The sweet fragrance of roses was giving Dargah a spiritual aura. All of us tied the Mannat Ka Dhaga.
Then we continued our journey towards Agra. All of us were a bit tired due to heat and humidity and the AC of the car was really a respite. Beside Taj Mahal the specialty of Agra is also the unique style of the people to tell the way to a particular place. When we asked the way for our hotel,  a man replied to go straight turning his hand towards left. So we went straight, confused  weather to take left and then went straight or whatever and landed into a traffic jam for 15 minutes. Udayan took a quick nap till we reached the hotel. Yasho was worried if we could find any hotel with swimming pool. The lobby of the hotel was reflecting its ethnic taste. The hotel was good. It was in the heart of the city. After a rest of two hours and a nice tea-milk- cookies break, we were ready to visit Taj Mahal. The hotel-manager advised us to hire an auto instead of driving the car. I was surprised when the auto driver asked for Rs.80 and then agreed for just Rs.40. When asked about the reason,  he told me this is because of lot of tourists that came here. It reminded me of Agra shown in movie Bunty aur Bubbly. Anyhow, we reached the Taj Mahal after a typical hustle bustle at the ticket counter. We all were enchanted by the picturesque beauty of Taj Mahal. It was like a dream come true. Hubby dear, me, Yasho and Udayan together –smile please-click. Yes, we got the moment     clicked.
There was a huge queue at the monument but it was moving quickly. I got a chewing gum stuck on my bare foot, in the process of reaching inside. Yuck… it was awful for me and humorous for others. Instead of numerous efforts by the visitors to ruin its beauty, Taj was still elegantly standing but I didn’t know how long it can survive the insensitivity of the people. We had a great view. We bought a Taj Mahal [show piece].Then we went to a restaurant near our hotel.
We were all very tired waiting for our meal to come. Suddenly, Udayan fell down from his chair. When I lifted him up and saw  a deep cut on his left eyebrow. It was just like a nightmare. I shouted for ice. There was chaos all around. Someone took my hubby and Udayan to the doctor with ice on his wound. I and Yasho came back to the hotel worried. After a restless half an hour Udayan and his father came with a huge bandage on his eyebrow. The energy level of kids is so high that Udayan was agile as ever but we were over cautious. We had a delicious dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and called it off for the day. But much more excitement was waiting for us the other day.
A bright morning welcomed us next day. But my husband was not in a mood to visit other tourist attractions like Agra Fort, Dayal Bagh etc. He gave the car keys to the hotel staff to clean it from inside. We decided to check out of the hotel after breakfast , which was a delicious blend of Indian and continental cuisine. Then we got the news that our car had been locked with keys inside. Hubby dear became furious because he wanted to reach Jaipur by noon. But the hotel staff assured to fix the matter with in an hour. He refused all my proposals of site seeing and shopping. So I went to the pool with kids. Yasho took the shower and went to the pool but when I asked Udayan to take shower, he said, “Mamma, potie…” and shit his potie was at the floor of that beautiful open shower area. I was so embarrassed. I looked at Yasho but he offered no help and ignored me. Then I saw a service boy coming towards me with towels and a smile. I asked him to clean the mess Udayan had created. His expressions changed remarkably. He came back with one more person, a broom, a cleaning mop, a bucked and a wiper. It took them a while to clean the area. It was pretty hard for me to stay cool but I did. By the time I reached the room with kids, the car had been opened and we were ready to leave. Kids were enthusiastic and I was satisfied. It was really an unforgettable trip. It started raining heavily. The black road bordered by lush green trees started conspiring to   encourage us for another pleasure trip.

Story :A Mouse  AND HIS HAT
Once there was a small mouse. One day when he was playing outside his hole, he found a very beautiful piece of cloth.
“This will make a beautiful hat for me.” He said to himself.
Then he went to the tailor and asked him to stitch a hat for him.
“Get lost.” The tailor said to the mouse as he was very busy in making a gown for the Queen.
“Tailor- tailor stitch my hat,
I am not some  ordinary rat,
I go to the King daily for a chat.” said the mouse.
It worked as the tailor stitched his hat within a few minutes.
Then the mouse went to the Zariwala. He wanted to give his hat a royal look. When he asked the Zariwala to put some zari work on his hat, he said, “Get lost.” He was very busy due to the wedding season.
“Zariwala-Zariwala put zari on  my hat,
I am not some  ordinary rat,
I go to the King daily for a chat.” said the mouse.
It worked as the Zariwala put some fine zari on the hat making it more beautiful.
Then the mouse went to the feather man and asked him to put a feather on his hat to complement its beauty. But the feather man was very busy as he was fixing feathers on the hats of Marconi Band. He said, “Get lost.”

Feather man- Feather man fix a feather on my hat,
I am not some ordinary rat,
I go to the King daily for a chat.” Said the mouse.
It again worked as no one wanted to mess up with king’s near and dear. The Feather man fixed the most lovely feather on the hat. The hat started looking like a little crown for the mouse.
The mouse was very happy. He put on the hat and walked towards the King’s Palace to have a chat with him. He was sure that only King could know the worth of his hat and praise it accordingly.
When the mouse entered the King’s Court Room, the king was busy in consulting with his ministers.
The mouse said, “Hello!  King . Have you seen my hat?”
The King was surprised at the mouse’s arrogance but his ministers were quite amused. This made the King furious and he ignored the mouse.
The mouse again said , “O King, have you seen my beautiful hat?”
All the courtiers laughed aloud. This made the King more furious.
He ordered his soldiers, “catch hold of the naughty  mouse and take his hat.”
The mouse ran to the Queen sensing the danger.
“O Kind Queen! Please save me from your king. He wants to take my beautiful hat out of jealousy.” said the mouse pleading the queen.

The Queen was sitting with her friends so she felt very embarrassed. She sent her   maid to the king and asked him to take his orders back. The King was an intelligent man . He thought that there is no point in making fuss of this tiny issue. So he called his soldiers back.
This made the mouse even more happier.
He said to himself, “ I am so clever, even the King is afraid of me.”
He danced with joy feeling like a king and went into his hole with his hat.
Next day when he came out of his hole, he saw a thin piece of metal.
He picked it up and said to himself, “This will make a  beautiful sword for me.”
Then he went to the ironsmith  and the story continues….

Story: Bringle Beauty

Brinjal Beauty
Once upon a time, there was a green grosser. He lived happily with his wife in a small house. But they did not have any child. This made them sad. One evening he sold all the vegetables but a brinjal was left. He took it with him  while returning home.

“Prepare some brinjal –bhaja for meal.” The green grosser said to his wife. When his wife put her knife on the brinjal a very sweet voice came from it.

"Slice me right, Slice me left

I am here, pick me dear"

“Oh what’s that?” green grosser’s wife said. She began to tremble in fear. Then the green grosser took  the  knife and sliced it accordingly. Then a miracle happened, an extremely beautiful girl came out of the brinjal.

“Who are you?” they asked.

“I am your daughter Brinji”. Said the girl.

Both of them became very happy as their family was now complete. As days passed, Brinji grew into a very beautiful young lady. She used to help her father in his shop. One day, when she was busy in the shop, the King passed by the marked. He looked at her and fell in love with her at first sight.

“Will you marry me?” the king asked.

“Yes, if it is fine with my parents.” She said.

The green grosser and his wife were too pleased to get the king as their son in law. The whole town danced with joy. Everyone was happy except king’s Prime Minister. He wanted to marry his own daughter to the King and make his position strong in the court. The Prime Minister left no stone unturned to cancel the wedding but it was all in vain. Then at last he thought of a cunning plan .

On the wedding day, he asked Brinji’s mother to coat her with a mixture of honey and coal to avoid any bad omen during the wedding ceremonies.

“It’s a common custom in royal weddings” he said.

Then he went to the King and said, “Brinji is suffering from some skin disease. Her whole body is black and sticky with it.”

“No, it is not possible. I have seen her. She is very beautiful.” The King said.

“If you don’t believe me, just hold her hand during the wedding ceremonies and  find it yourself.” Said the Prime Minister.

The Barat Procession of King came with a grand style. A lot of elephants and horses were there to complement the elegance of the King. Brinji and her parents were on the top of the world.

When the Barat Procession came on Brinji’s doorstep, she came to garland the King. When she garlanded the King he touched  her hand it was very sticky and dark. He became very angry and took his procession back without listening any explanation .Brinji and her parents were shocked. Whole town fell into the valley of sorrow.

“Don’t loose hope. Its my promise, King would come at our doorstep to marry me.” Brinji said.

She was a wise girl and very soon she understood the it was all the conspiracy of the Prime Minister. She planned to teach him a lesson. She went to the King’s Palace in guise of a florist. The King was walking in the garden. She went to him and sung-

"Garlands and bouquets, pretty and fresh

Only for kind and not for cash".

The King looked at her and was mesmerized by her beauty and song. He purchased all her flowers and gave her his sword.

When the King entered  his courtroom, everyone was surprised to see him without his sword. Whole day the King could not concentrate on anything. He was occupied by the thought of the florist and the striking similarity between her and Brinji.

Next day the King ordered his men to keep a close eye on everyone who comes in the Palace. When the King was  going for hunting, Brinji joined him in the guise of a man with white clothes and white horse.

"Two is company, three is crowd

take me along, you will be proud."

They wandered in the forest for long without even a single rabbit in sight. Then they both saw a deer and shot an arrow at the same time. The deer instantly fell down. When they came close to the deer , they found out that it was Brinji’s arrow that  had hit the deer. So the King said, “Its all yours.” Then Brinji put some bandage on the deer’s wound and freed it. The king was very impressed by his kindness and gave him his necklace of  pearls. He asked him , “What is your name and where do you live?”

Brinji smiled  and went away. King was more confused then ever when he returned from the forest. The Prime Minister was quite worried to see the King like this. He called some entertainers to make the King happy. This time Brinji came in the guise of a dancer. She danced like pea-hen. King was lost in the magnetic field of her charm and he handed over his crown to her.

Brinji rushed to her house and when her charm broke King was very ashamed. The King asked the Prime Minister to go and get his crown back. The Prime Minister was also very much worried as this was the prestige issue of the royals. He caught hold of the dancers and asked about Brinji. Then he joined the threads of events and got a clue. He went to Brinji’s house and apologized for his deeds.

"As you sow, so shall you reap

bring back my pride,if you are a man not a creep"

These hard words of Brinji left no option with Prime Minister but to tell the King the truth about Brinji’s skin disease. The King became very angry but finally forgave him.

They started the preparations for the wedding. Just when they were about to leave for Brinji’s house, they got a parcel from Bride. When the King opened it, he got his sword, the bandage of the deer and least but not the last his crown. The King put on his crown and took the sword. He was very happy as he knew that his wife had beauty with brain.

Story :Saga of a bride

                                                         Saga of a bride

Once upon a time there lived two ZamindarsThey were best friends. Once, they decided to strengthen their bond of friendship by a wedding between their kids. Their wives were expecting that time. As the time passed, they became the fathers of a boy and a girl respectively. The boy was named Kuvar and the girl wasnamed Ladoo.
Time passed by and Kuvar grew up in a handsome young man.His friends started teasing him.
"Your father does not want you to get married. All of us are married, but you are still single."
Kuvar felt very bad. That day instead of turning up for dinner, he went to the stable and slept there.
Zamindar Saa got worried and sent his servants to search for him. They fount him slpeeing in the stable. This made Zamindar Saa very upset.
In the morning, he called for Kuvar and asked him ,"What is the matter?"
After much hesitation the Kuvar  told his brother about his friends teasing him about his marriage. When Zamindar Saa got the news, he smiled to himself.
He sent Kuvar to his friend’s house with a knight.
He said, “Kuvar, go to your in laws and bring your bride.”Kuvar became very happy. He travelled the whole distance on cloud nine. When they entered the village, they saw some girls were celebrating Gangaur, a festival of girls. The knight pointed towards Ladoo, and said, “Look, she is your bride.” They started following the girls. The girls reached a well and started filling their pots. When that was done, each girl helped the other to lift the pot and place it on her head. At last only Ladoo left. There was no one to help her with her pot as her all the friends had pot on their head. So the Kuvar came and asked, “O my lady love! Shall I help you with your pot?”
This made  Ladoo angry as she did not recognize Kuvar. She cursed the Kuvar hard. Her words worked as arrows on Kuvar’s heart. But he kept quiet. When the girls walked, they noticed that the Kuvar and his knight are following them. Soon, Ladoo realized that they are moving towards her house. So instead of going through the main door she entered from the back gate. She narrated the whole incident to her Bhabhi. It took no time to her to understand the matter. She told her, “Ladoo, he is your groom.”She left all her household cores and started decorating the house. Then she gave most beautiful clothes and ornaments and asked her to get ready. Meanwhile, Kuvar and his knight received a warm welcome at Ladoo’s house. But it only aggravated Kuvar’s anger.
At night when Ladoo went to greet Kuvar, with a glass of Kesar milk he did not open the door.
Her Bhabhi came and said, “Kuvar Saa, open the door. Your beautiful bride is getting tired by standing here so long.”
Her Brother came and said, “Kuvar Saa, open the door. My sister is too delicate to stand too long.”
Her mother came and said, “Kuvar Saa
open the door. My Ladoo  is standing outside for  your  welcome.”
Finally, her  father  came and said, “Kuvar Saa , open the door. Don’t create a scene here.”
But Kuvar was so annoyed the he turned a blind eye towards them. In the morning he got ready to leave for his village.
Ladoo’s father asked, “Why are you leaving so early?”
Kuvar fabricated an excuse and said, “Your friend, my father is on death bed. So I am going early. I will take Ladoo with me some other time.”
This made Ladoo’s father suspicious and he said, “Then you should take your bride also, so that she can meet her father in law.” This argument made Kuvar speechless and he had to agree.
Ladoo’s father bid her a grand farewell. He sent many precious gifts, ornaments, horses and servants along with her to her in laws. But as they crossed the village and entered the forest Kuvar distributed all the gifts and ornaments in the servants and told them  to go away. When they refused saying , “Zamindar Saa will kill us.” He asked them to settle in some far away village.
They all went leaving the bullock cart in which Ladoo was sitting. Then Kuvar and his knight left her alone in the forest and went to their village. The Kuvar arrived so early and without the bride. This news spread across the village like the fire in the jungle. Zamindar Saa (Kuvar’s father)  threatened the knight to spill the beans on the matter. After some hesitation the Knight told the whole story.
There in the forest, when Ladoo realized that there is no sound of people around and the cart is also steady, she opened the veil of her cart and looked around. It took no time , the knowledge sank into her heart that Kuvar had deserted her. With a heavy heart,  she let the reins of the bulls loose and said, “You are my God-father. Take me where ever you please.”
The bulls walked fast the forest and reached in an extremely beautiful garden of a Thakur. When the gardener saw the cart with loose reins, he became suspicious.
He said, “Who is there in the cart? What can I do for you?”
Ladoo said, “ I am a jilted bride. Please please give me shelter.”
The gardener was surprised to see such a beautiful maiden. He said, “This is Thakur Saa’s garden. I cannot allow you to stay here without his permission.” “O.K. let him come I will ask for his permission myself.” Said  Ladoo. Then the gardener let the bulls in the shed and gave them food and water. He also gave Ladoo some fruits to eat. When the Thakur  came for a walk in his garden, he saw the beautiful cart. He came closer and saw Ladoo and immediately fall in love with her. The gardener told him that she was a jilted bride and needed shelter. Thakur felt very happy. He came to her and proposed her to marry him.
Ladoo played a trick. She said, “Yes, I will. But first build a huge mansion with four balconies for me to live in.”Thakur gladly agreed. He immediately ordered his men to built a huge mansion. The garden was destroyed and everyone from the village was called for labour in order to build the mansion fast.
There Zamindar Saa called Kuvar and said, “You are not a kid. I want you to understand that Ladoo is as dear to me as you are. She is just like my daughter. If you love me then forget your ego. Go and get her with all the love and respect  your wife deserve.”
Kuvar himself was very sorry about his irresponsible behavior.   He immediately went to the forest with  his knight. But there was no cart there. But there was a trail of cart-wheels in the mud. They followed the trail and reached the Thakur’s garden. There was a lot of hustle and bustle there . Kuvar asked the villagers, “What is going on here?” “Look at the cart. The would-be-bride of Thakur Saa is sitting on it. We all are building a huge mansion for her. She will marry Thakur Saa when it is built.” said the villagers.
This made Kuvar very sad. He waited till night. When everyone was asleep, he went to the cart and said , “Ladoo, this is your Kuvar. I am sorry. Please forgive me. Open your veil.”Ladoo opened the veil and said, “How will you take me? Thakur and his men will never let you do so.” Kuvar said, “The mansion will he ready in two or three days. I have a plan.” He told the plan to Ladoo.
From the next morning, Kuvar and his knight started working as laborers and within three days they befriended with the villagers. When the mansion got ready. Ladoo told the Thakur, “We have a custom to visit temple the night before wedding. I want to visit the temple in my cart. So please arrange for a cart rider.” When Thakur asked about a cart-rider, Kuvar volunteered. He took the cart into the forest. There his knight was waiting for him with his horse. All of them took the horses and rushed for their village leaving  the cart there.
Zamindar Saa welcomed the bride and groom with great pomp and show. Poor Thakur felt duped when he saw the empty cart. He neither got the bride nor his garden with absolute beauty was left.

Raindrop

When i was a little girl, I once read a poem. The poem was about a rain drop. As the rain drop leaves the cloud and proceeds towards the earth, many possiblities comes  across it. If it will land into sand and vanish or a burning coal will be its future destination, turning it into vapour. But these obstacles could not deter it from venturing further. Finally, it lands into sea and then into an open sea-shell and became a pearl. With this phylosophy i am starting my blog.Wish me luck.
